History of Triangle Sunglasses
Triangle sunglasses made an appearance as early as the 1960's at the time the era was going through a phase called 'retro-futurism.'
The focus was at the time how they envisioned the future to be, so fashion and furniture reflected a supposed 'glimpse into the future.'

In 1972, the infamous Oliver Goldsmith Pyramid sunglasses were created. These designer triangle sunglasses were created to accentuate Vidal Sassoon's iconic Bauhaus bob hair style which consisted of a really blunt fringe (last photo) and complemented the shape of the glasses well.
Triangle Sunglasses in the Eighties
In the eighties, famous people such as Grace Jones and Elton John would wear triangle shaped sunglasses. Both artists are known for being ostentatious and bold with their attire.
At the time films like back to the future in 1985 were made- where a teenage school boy is able to travel through time via a time machine.
Films like this undoubtedly prompted another resurgence of retrofuturism.
